Buttering up Jennifer Garner and Gets Smooth Like Butter

Buttering up Jennifer

Alias star Jennifer Garner is set to star in Butter, an upcoming comedy that the actress may also produce.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the movie will be a political satire set in the world of competitive butter-sculpting.

It is about a young orphan who finds she has a talent for carving lovely things out of butter, and ends up in competition with the ambitious wife of the retired (and still reigning) champion.

Gets Smooth Like Butter

With two projects in the can and maternity out of the way, Jennifer Garner is ready to go back to work and spread her sweetness into a political satire.

The Alias gal is attached to star and possibly produce Butter, a comedy set in the microcosm of competitive butter sculpting. She would be reuniting with Mandate, one of the production companies behind Juno.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the story (by first-timer Jesse Micallef) follows a young girl adopted by a Midwestern family who eventually discovers her talent for butter carving. At her town's local contest, she faces tough condiment competition in the ambitious wife of the former champ. Craig Gillespie (Lars and the Real Girl) and Gary Ross (Seabiscuit) are potential directors.

Garner's Ghosts of Girlfriends Past opens next month.
