Frugality & Style In the World of Fashion

Not so long ago, wearing the same outfit on more than one occasion was as good as declaring your indigence and quickly being barred from the social circles among the privileged. This would be so regardless of how chic or stylish your outfit was and regardless of the economic conditions of the world.

The world of fashion and high society can be terribly harsh, especially on those who choose to go against the grain of acceptable behaviour. In recent years, however, a few ladies have taken it upon themselves to reverse this unreasonable trend and gained widespread popularity while doing so.

Michelle Obama, the First Lady of the United States, has in recent years shown that you can maintain a stylish appearance by shopping from regular retail outlets and wearing the same outfit on more than one occasion.

She has been known to wear clothing from brands such as J Crew, Donna Karan, Target, Banana Republic, Liz Claiborne, H & M, Gap and Donna Ricco among others. Of course, she also wears designer apparel but she has shown the world that you can look classy and elegant wearing apparel from regular retail brands.

The former Miss Kate Middleton and current Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, is one of the hottest style icons today. She has been known to wear the same item of apparel or outfit on multiple occasions and shop for clothing from regular retail brands.

Before her marriage, she has spent time in the fashion industry and has been listed by various publications as one of the most stylish or best dressed personalities. While she wears high fashion designer apparel on occasion, she is also known to dress down in jeans paired with a simple top.

At DenimSquare, you can find stylish apparel by various designer brands including Donna Karan New York, Calvin Klein and Donna Ricco available at sensible prices. Shop now for trendy dresses, tops and jeans and save up to 70% with our special discounts.

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning Steaming Together!

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning have attend “The Runaways” opening during the 2010 Sundance Film Fair at Eccles Center Theatre in Park City, Utah. K Stew is wearing J Brand Crinkle Legging jeans in Viper Black for the occasion. With all the different brands she has worn I have to wonder if she will just dress in whatever is gifted to her as long as it has a skinny leg? I really doubt she buys these brands for herself (though I could be wrong!)… She just doesn’t seem like the type of girl who would care about her clothes since she rarely cares about her hair? Buy these jeans here at Denim Square.

LaToya Jackson went shopping in Warsaw, Poland, wearing a rather unusual pair of printed denim leggings. These leggings are called Love Kills Slowly by Ed Hardy. Blake Lively's Hair

Epic in 2009
The last year of the decade proved to be a pretty good one, save for some disappointing losses (millions of jobs, Michael Jackson, Brittany Murphy, and Prescriptives to name a few). But on the upside, here's what made headline after headline, solidifying a spot on our Epic list. –India-Jewel Jackson

Blake Lively's Hair The ‘Rachel’ was the last hairstyle to be named after a television character before Gossip Girl came along and launched the ‘Serena’. Whether spotted on-screen or off, Blake Lively’s baby blonde strands are always tousled to imperfection, making her done-undone mane the most popular hairstyle of the year.

Fashion Frenemy By Denim Square

Four days into the New Year, Lindsay Lohan’s resolution to stay drama-free has already failed. Us Magazine is reporting that LiLo’s longtime BFF Patrick “Pootie” Aufdenkamp stole the design sketches to her clothing line, with plans to debut his own line at NYC Fashion week in February.
A source said: “It’s horrible. He was her best friend. He has always used her, and she’s been warned to never trust him. Lindsay is a good friend and likes to see the good in people. She didn’t want to believe how bad Patrick’s energy was, and how false his friendship has always been with her.”
Lindsay was all about removing negative influences in her life for the New Year. Too bad the negative influence had to leave with her life’s work!

Canadian heritage and fashion trends By Denim Square

Canadian Heritage and Fashion Trends Come Together in Hbc's Canadian Olympic Team Uniforms for Torino 2006
Canada's Olympic Team at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games this February in Torino, Italy will be sporting uniforms designed and developed by Hudson's Bay Company (Hbc). The Hbc uniform package combines the best of fashion and function, with a distinct take on both Canadian heritage and modern, high tech, high performance winter sports wear.
The Canadian Olympic Team uniforms were unveiled today by Hbc and the Canadian Olympic Committee at the Fort York Armoury in Toronto at a gala celebration including Canadian Olympic athletes, guests and Hbc associates. The items seen for the first time at the event included team wear - items the athletes will wear during the 2006 Olympic Winter Games - as well as select replica wear items (the clothing line inspired by the athletes' uniforms that will be available to the public in Hbc stores across Canada). Special Olympic-themed boutiques will open this week in Hbc stores across the country, including the Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters.
"The 2006 Olympic Winter Games are about great things - for our athletes, our country and now for Hbc," said George Heller, President and CEO, Hbc. "The Hbc team of designers has built a collection for the Canadian team representing us in Torino that captures the essence of Canada and will make us all proud when our athletes march into the stadium and climb onto the medal podium."
"These uniforms represent the pride Canadians feel for our Olympic athletes," said Chris Rudge, CEO, Canadian Olympic Committee. "They are attractive and functional, and will proudly showcase the Canadian team to the world at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games. We are very impressed with the 2006 Torino clothing line and the commitment Hbc has made to athletes for the next seven years."
The 2006 Canadian Olympic Team uniforms and replica wear were created by a team of Hbc designers supported by Canadian design consultants that were brought in to work on the program. The team also worked with Canadian Olympic athletes from across the country. Over 50 athletes participated in focus groups in Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto and Montreal and provided valuable feedback and suggestions that contributed to the goal of creating a team uniform package that exceeds the athletes' fashion and functional needs. A set of core values including diversity, pride, achievement and tradition were the inspiration and touchpoint for the design team throughout the creative process.
Canada's Olympic Team in Torino will receive over 45 items as part of the 2006 Team package including leisure wear, coats, indoor and outdoor jackets and pants, sweaters, shirts, shoes, toques, scarves and gloves. There will also be special athlete-only pieces such as the opening ceremony jacket, podium jacket, and a blazer that will not be available for sale. The distinctly Canadian designs for parade wear - the clothing worn in the Opening and Closing Ceremonies - and the clothing designed for the medal podium will only be unveiled at the 2006 Olympic Winter Games.
"We sought out the best in Canadian fashion and challenged our internal team of talented designers to come up with a line that mixes Canadian heritage with present day trends," said Suzanne Timmins, Fashion Director, Hbc. "From the latest fabrics to the cut and size ranges, our team considered everything."
"We knew when we struck our partnership with Hbc earlier this year that their first major challenge would be the design of the 2006 Canadian Team uniforms," said John Furlong, CEO, VANOC. "We put our faith in their ability to create a uniform that would instill national pride and become one of our athletes' most treasured memories of the Games. They have succeeded beyond our expectations on both counts. Congratulations, Hbc on a job well done."
Hbc is the Official Clothing and Luggage Supplier to the Canadian Olympic and Paralympic Teams and the Official Department Store Partner and General Merchandise Retailer in Canada until 2012. Established in 1670, Hudson's Bay Company is Canada's largest department store retailer and oldest corporation. The Company provides Canadians with the widest selection of goods and services available through retail channels that include 550 stores led by the Bay, Zellers and Home Outfitters chains. Hudson's Bay Company employs nearly 70,000 associates and has operations in every province in Canada.
The Canadian Olympic Committee is a national, private, not-for-profit organization committed to sport excellence. It is responsible for all aspects of Canada's involvement in the Olympic Movement, including Canada's participation in the Olympic and Pan American Games and a wide variety of programs that promote the Olympic Movement in Canada through cultural and educational means. For more information, see the COC website: www.olympic.ca.

VANOC's marketing program is focused on securing mutually rewarding partnerships with shared values to generate sufficient revenue to host successful Winter Games in 2010 and to leave a financial legacy for sport. VANOC's National Partners are Bell Canada, RBC Financial Group, Hbc, RONA, Petro Canada and GM Canada.
